There are currently 33 Sainik schools in India, with one located in each state. These are entirely residential, top-notch institutes run by the Ministry of Defense’s Sainik School Society. The country’s first high minister, the late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, took the initiative to establish these faculties in the 1960s. These are CBSE-affiliated English-medium schools. An All India Written Exam and a medical exam are prerequisites for admission to Sainik Schools. With approximately 15,000 officials serving in the armed forces, these faculties have flourished in their top role as a feeder organization to the armed forces. IAS, IPS officials, doctors, and engineers who work both domestically and outside make up a sizable portion of the alumni. It should be noted that UP Sainik School, Lucknow, also known as Captain Manoj Pandey Sainik School, administers exams individually and is not always a member of the aforementioned Sainik School Society.
Eligibility Criteria for RIMC- 2025
Qualification: At the time of admission, the candidate must be enrolled in class VII or have completed class VII at any accredited school.
Age Requirement: The candidate must be at least 11 and a half years old and not older than 13 on January 1, 2025.
RIMC/Sainik School – Kumaon Defence Academy
RIMC stands for Rashtriya Indian Military College. There is an excellent private school for boys in Doon valley. It was the Prince of Wales Royal India Military College till 1947.
This institute has taken the heritage of a great tradition, which is now the feeder institution of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and eventually the Indian Army. The passed-out students here are called Rimkolians (the name of the alumnae) and they have been the highest rank holders in most of India.
Admission Procedure
Every six months, about 25 cadets are admitted. Candidates must be at least 11½ years old or not have reached the age of 13 on January 1st or July 1st of the term they are joining. Only Class VIII is admitted. At the time of joining, the candidate must be enrolled in Class VII or have completed Class VII at an accredited institution. The relevant State Governments must receive application forms. Candidates are chosen based on how well they do in the twice-yearly All India Entrance Examination, which consists of written questions in English (125 marks), Mathematics (200 marks), and General Knowledge (75 marks). Those who pass are invited to a Viva-Voice test (50 marks).
Destination
The College primarily serves boys who wish to enlist in the Indian Defence Forces and offers instruction along the lines of residential public schools. After graduating from the RIMC, those who fail to achieve this goal are eligible to enroll in a professional or college setting. Only individuals who are eager to take on the challenge of serving the Indian Defence Forces are encouraged to apply, according to the College.
